I am a licensed Psychologist in DC, MD, and VA. I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, which I have gratefully been engaged in for many years. Learning about others and myself is an integral part of this work. The uniqueness of each person makes this a very stimulating process.
I am a full-time solo private practitioner, and I serve a diverse population. I believe we are capable of change. In order to achieve change, it is important to recognize our strengths and abilities and harness these capacities as foundational building blocks.
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University. Prior to graduate studies, I received my B.A, with Honors in Psychology from The City College of New York. I trained and worked in community mental health centers and in-patient psychiatric facilities in New York City and Washington, D.C. I also provided clinical supervision to psychology interns and psychiatry residents.
Psychotherapy is a shared journey which you and I embark upon together in a developing partnership. In psychotherapy, we work together building trust so that you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a non-judgmental safe space to work through past and present experiences. The therapeutic process involves gaining insights and understandings, acquiring coping tools and learning strategies to manage your distress and the various situations which you have encountered, and which presently confront you. In therapy, you will also establish new frameworks and new dialogues with yourself and others through challenging, for example, self-doubts and negative assumptions. Exploring and improving communication and relationship response patterns are also key components of the therapeutic process. We work together to achieve the goals of symptom reduction and healing. Healing involves recognizing and accepting our feelings, thoughts, and responses/actions. Healing further encompasses resiliency building, behavior change and emotional growth, including increased self-esteem, a willingness to try new endeavors, and the establishment of healthy, fulfilling attachments and relationships. In short, psychotherapy involves much hard but REWARDING work together and on your own: practicing, reflecting and applying the new perspectives and strategies.

Currently I am seeing clients virtually through teletherapy using video and audio methods according to the client's device capabilities. Soon I will be adding the option of in-person sessions. I also provide telepsychology to clients located outside the DMV area but who are in one of the many U.S. member states that participate in PSYPACT. PSYPACT is an association of state psychology licensing boards which grants authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology (APIT).
I use an integrative, eclectic approach tailored to each client’s individual needs. I draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Family Systems, Mind-Body work, and Short-Term Problem-Focused Therapy.
